Unscripted: The Palouse Pairing Project

A social photography experiment exploring connection, curiosity, and vulnerability across the Palouse.

About the Project

Each month in 2026, I’ll bring together two strangers who have never met before — pairing them for a photo session designed to explore what happens when two people simply show up.

This project isn’t about performance or posing. It’s about what unfolds naturally when humans connect: the awkwardness, the laughter, the stillness, and sometimes, the unexpected spark.

Whether friendship, fleeting connection, or something more, each session is a story of presence — captured in the heart of the Palouse.

2026 applications open! Apply below!

How it works

STEP 01

Apply

Fill out a short form sharing who you are, your comfort level, and what kind of experience you’re open to.

STEP 02

Get paired

Each month, two applicants will be matched based on shared values or contrasting stories — and meet for the first time at the shoot.

Note: you only pay the $25 commitment fee AFTER you are paired

Sessions depend on how many people apply and how many pairings I can comfortably make.

STEP 03

Picture time

Sessions are fully guided and relaxed — meant to capture real, unscripted connection.

We will coordinate when and where.

Location: Sessions will take place across the Palouse — from Moscow to Pullman and the surrounding countryside.

STEP 04

Delivering photos

Photos will be delivered via an online gallery. Participants will have access to watermarked images they can share. Images will be used on social media, websites, and for marketing materials or blog posts. Images may also be used in small businesses around the Palouse to promote community and connection.

Participants will always approve final images before public sharing.

(Example- if we do a sessions at a diner, a photo from the session may get displayed in that diner.)

sounds fun, right?

Curious enough to say yes to the unknown?

Randi & Brendan

My very first stranger session! I'm so grateful for these two amazing humans for being so easy going and vulnerable, making this experience truly memorable!
